Uzbekistan, RV Healthcare Group sign a memorandum of cooperation
The State Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of the first deputy chairman Sunatulla Bekenov signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Singapore company RV Healthcare Group on 24 December 2018.
On 21 September, the first deputy chairman of the committee, Sunatulla Bekenov, met with representatives of the Singapore-based RV Healthcare Group in Khorezm. A presentation was made by foreign investors on a project to build a pharmaceutical plant, where it is planned to produce high-tech antiviral drugs (hepatitis B, C, and antiretroviral drugs), oral anti-cancer drugs, injections and biostimulants. The preliminary site for construction is the territory of the Parkent-Farm FEZ.
Also, representatives of the RV Healthcare Group made a proposal to build a training center in Tashkent to train staff for further work in the pharmaceutical industry.
During the signing, Sunatulla Bekenov expressed hope that the project will soon move from the stage of the memorandum to a concrete action plan, where the State Committee on Investments will provide further assistance in the implementation of the project.
“To solve the problems of oncological diseases, timely prevention and maintenance of cancer patients, modern methods of drug production are required,” Sunatullah Bekenov noted during the negotiations, “Uzbekistan has been actively studying foreign experience for this purpose and the leading foreign companies are involved in bringing to a new level the tasks of cancer prevention and maintaining public health.”
RV Healthcare Group is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in Asia, with three manufacturing plants in India, two in Vietnam and Myanmar, and one each in China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Kazakhstan and the Philippines.
