From 2025, the fee for importing medicines and medical products will be abolished

Customs duties and export subsidies are to be harmonized with WTO conditions.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree aimed at streamlining the import of various goods to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice.

From the beginning of 2024, the procedure for exempting products imported from certain countries from assessment of compliance with standards will be canceled. It was also instructed to change the procedure for labeling imported goods in the state language.

From January 1, 2025, the fee for customs clearance of medicines and other medical products will be abolished. Currently, it is 1.2% of their customs value.

In addition, the president instructed to prepare proposals in several areas related to import and export. The task is to develop a project for the automation and digitalization of issuance of licenses for the import of goods by October 1.

No later than November 1, it is required to submit initiatives to bring customs duties for export and import in line with the requirements of the World Trade Organization. By January 1, 2024, it was also instructed to prepare a reform of subsidizing transport costs under WTO conditions.
