The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan spoke at the UN - details

At the high-level meeting, issues of pandemic prevention, preparedness and response were discussed.

TASHKENT, September 22 - Sputnik. Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov spoke at a meeting on issues of preventing pandemics, ensuring preparedness and responding to them within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Ministry of Health reports.

He spoke about the measures taken in the republic to prevent the spread and combat COVID-19, as well as what is being done to prepare for future potential pandemics. In particular, together with international organizations and neighboring countries, Uzbekistan is implementing a number of projects.

During his speech, Inoyatov put forward a number of proposals to prevent pandemics and ensure preparedness for them.

“We need to learn to completely control the coronavirus infection. At the same time, it is important to conduct research to improve anti-epidemic measures, coordinate early detection, treatment and prevention of coronavirus patients, study the importance of secondary immunity in preventing re-infection, strengthen or weaken quarantine measures based on early prediction of the spread of the pandemic,” says the head of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

In his opinion, it is necessary to ensure long-term protection against mutated strains, determine the timing of vaccination of sick and recovered people, the risks associated with vaccination, and create a new generation of vaccines.

“In addition, issues related to the development of special prevention strategies during potential pandemics that may be caused by insufficiently studied or unknown infections should be studied. Uzbek scientists are ready for close cooperation in this direction,” Inoyatov said.

He also emphasized the importance of creating a bank of viruses and cells, studying natural reservoirs of potentially dangerous viruses, and developing nanomedicine in virology.
