It is planned to attract $370 million from abroad for healthcare

The application of outsourcing and public-private partnership mechanisms in state clinics will be expanded.

On January 20, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for improving healthcare quality and modernizing medical institutions, according to the presidential press service.

At the meeting, it was noted that at least 100 billion soums are allocated annually from the budget for the procurement of modern equipment for hospitals. In 2024, $200 million in foreign investments and $94 million in grants were attracted to the sector, allowing regional and district clinics to be equipped with MRI and CT scanners.

This year, budget allocations for these purposes will increase to 200 billion soums. Additionally, $370 million in foreign financing is planned to be attracted to the healthcare sector.

For example, $100 million from the Asian Development Bank is expected to be allocated for equipping maternity facilities. These funds will be used to purchase six ambulances and 21,000 units of medical supplies in 45 categories.

In clinics in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm, equipment for treating cardiovascular diseases will be installed with €30 million from KfW. Additionally, €13.5 million will be provided for the construction of a high-tech medical training center and dormitory in Termez.

The president instructed to ensure the professional development of doctors and medical personnel to work with the new equipment. It was emphasized that existing equipment should be used more efficiently—for instance, the average utilization rate of angiographs in the regions is 34%.

To operate high-tech equipment in state medical institutions, initiatives for outsourcing and public-private partnerships will be implemented.

Earlier, Spot reported that Uzbekistan and the UAE agreed to implement healthcare projects worth over $100 million.
